The Seeds Were Planted (Reaping the Harvest)

Greetings, y'all! 👋😁

After all the 'drama' of 2025, it seems that 2026 is starting of on a much calmer note. 🙌🏻 Our 'Magical Medical Tour' seems to have come to an end, and we're settling into a normal schedule of regular checkup appointments. It's kinda strange not having a calendar full of appointments, but I'm glad for the break. 🙌🏻😄

After losing my job last July, I took the month of August off to take care of hubby and try to decompress. As I posted previously, I picked up 2 new projects in September, but one of them ended on the 2nd of January. The other project doesn't have a lot of available work, so it's catch-as-catch-can there. Once we got the news about the second project coming to an end, I started applying to other platforms from referrals my colleagues were sharing. I wasn't very optimistic, though, because generalists (those without a particular field of study or profession) are less preferred over specialists. Many platforms are giving preference to people with college degrees, as well, which also limits my prospects.

Anyway, I wasn't really worried about not finding another job, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little concerned, since I hadn't heard from any of the platforms I'd applied to. My prayer was (and still is) that God would lead me to where I'm supposed to be, and believing in faith that He would. Imagine my surprise and delight to receive an invitation to join a high-paying project on a platform that almost exclusively hires college graduates! 🤯 I immediately accepted the invitation and started the onboarding process. As of this writing, the sample task I submitted has been reviewed, and I've made my first (and hopefully only) revisions based on the reviewer's critiques. When the reviewer is satisfied and signs off on the task, I'll be able to work freely.

While I was waiting for my sample task to be reviewed, I was added to a group of fellows who have been asked to help grade other tasks (at the same pay rate as my original project). I'm thankful for the side work, because I can put in working hours while waiting for my sample task review.

I was also onboarded to a project on a third platform that has a decent pay rate. That project starts on February 1st, but there was a "sprint" on another project over the weekend that I was invited to participate in. I wasn't able to do much because the power was blinking, but I did log some time.

A fourth platform I'd applied to gave me a second chance to pass an assessment test for a project. I made a better (and passing) score on my second attempt, and I'm now waiting to find out if I'll be onboarded. That project pays less than $20 per hour, but it's an ongoing, long-term project on several platforms. It may serve as a "safety net" if/when the higher paying projects pause.

I'm extremely thankful for the abundance of options available to me, and I will make every effort to do my best work and to "make hay while the sun shines", since contract work isn't exactly stable. No matter what, I give praise and thanks to God for His provision!

Be blessed, and be a blessing! ✌❤🙏🏻😊

2025 Recap: You Ain't Leaving (Thank God Are Ya)?

Greetings, y'all! 👋😄

As the end of 2025 has come and gone, I can only say, "Thank God!", both sarcastically and sincerely.

2025 was a wild rollercoaster ride (on an old, rickety wooden coaster that should've been condemned years ago)! Daniel's near death & hospitalization in February, losing my job at the end of July, Daniel's heart surgery in August, being diagnosed with COPD and secondary polycythemia, and scattered in between those major events so. many. doctor. appointments. 😑

Of course, there were good things that happened in 2025. Daniel survived severe malnutrition/diabetic ketoacidosis/sepsis, his heart surgery went smoothly and he fully recovered from it, I was able to get a couple new work-from-home jobs (and I got a raise at my church job), and I finally made the decision to take care of my own health instead of putting it on the back burner. Overall, while there are issues, none of them are really major. 🙌🏻

We were incredibly blessed, even though 2025 was an incredibly stressful year. God brought us through some mighty fierce storms, and we experienced His peace that truly does pass all understanding. 🙌🏻

I'm praying that 2026 is kind to all of us. ✌❤🙏🏻🙌🏻
